Malachite

Malachite is made of a carbonate mineral known as the "copper carbonate." This gemstone is available in a beautiful green shade and derives its name from Greek word molochitis which means mallow-green stone. Until 1800, this stone was used to create green paint. This stone’s pigment is lightfast, extremely sensitive to acids. But soon, the natural form of Malachite was replaced by verditer and other synthetic pigments to create green paints.
